How much would a company who recycles computers buy one for?
It’s an old 1997-1998 computer with two 256MB SDRAM sticks, 433MHz AMD processor, video and sound cards, modem, no hard disk, 50X CD drive, floppy drive, etc. and really it has no practical use for me and nobody would want it and I heard old chips and stuff are worth alot

It is not worth anything if you want to sell it. Give it to a place so they can properly dispose of the components.
If you’re desperate for cash, you could possibly sell the RAM on ebay for $10 or $20…..
I am sorry, but that system is so obsolete, nobody would ever buy it. The parts are far too old even to be parted out. Why not donate it to some children’s program, such as Big Brother, Big Sister, or a homeless shelter, etc. Then at least you could take a $100.00 tax right off. Well, maybe $50.00, but you might get away with the hundred.
They wouldn’t give you anything for it. Donate it to a non-profit and write off the taxes. You can probably legally write off more than the thing is worth (which is basically nothing). I’ve never heard of anybody paying "alot" for old chips.
A computer Recycling company will most likely give you $10 – $20 dollars for your computer as well as paying for the shipping of your computer to them. The price can vary, however computer equipments does not really retain its value. Most Recycling places will give you a quote and then send you a prepaid box for you to send your computer to them. Once the company receives your computer they will fully determine what your computer is worth and then pay you accordingly.
