    Today, there is not much recyclable precious metal in computers. About the only gold used is in the CPU to bond the substrate to the pinouts (very very small amount), and also a micro-thin plating of gold on most component connectors and card fingers. Not worth going after.

    That was not the case over 15 years ago, when there was substantial use of gold in larger mini’s and mainframes. Those days are long gone.
